VARS organisational unit “Internal Veterinary Inspection Sector” includes ten (10) Regional Offices and six (6) Branch Offices. Regional Offices (ROs) are VARS units which are competent for the implementation of official controls and administrative tasks at regional level, thus covering the entire territory of the Republic of Slovenia.
Internal Veterinary Inspection Sector is headed by the Director of Internal Veterinary Inspection. Responsibilities of the Director include inter alia the managing, planning and coordinating operations by the relevant Regional Office, organising the uniform implementation of regulations governing the operations of internal veterinary inspection services, providing for the professional supervision of operations carried out by official veterinarians within the relevant Regional Office, planning actions within the scope of activities of the Regional Office, and reporting on the work accomplished by the relevant Regional Office.
Regional Offices are headed by Directors of Regional Offices, who are responsible for planning, organising, directing and supervising the operations carried out within each relevant Regional Office, deciding in procedures launched on request of clients, and carrying out most complex professional tasks within their respective organisational units.
Within Regional Offices, official controls and administrative tasks are carried out by official veterinarians, organised within the relevant Veterinary Public Health Sections, and Animal Health and Welfare Sections.
